Saffron flower
A saffron flower - used to produce the worlds most expensive spice. The red stigmas are the part used in cooking. It takes 1000 saffron flowers to produce 100g of Saffron - so no wonder it is the world's most expensive spice.Saffron is used in many Persian dishes, in Turkey to flavour coffee, to add colour and flavour to Italian risotto, and Spanish Paella.
